The tilting pad pops off easily, but for the price worth the hassle. I use them a few times knowing they are cheap throw away clampsVery easy to use. Good for small projects.*** SEE UPDATE BELOW***This inexpensive set of 10 spring clamps by LZYLL are handy to have for general purpose use around the house, yard, workshop or anywhere you can use a lightweight clamp. Their design is similar to a multitude of brands out there and I've had similar versions that I've used for years. These 4.5" long clamps have a jaw opening of about 1.25" but to go much wider, you'll risk them slipping off due to the geometry of the pivoting jaws. The spring mechanism is surprisingly strong but as these are new, they may relax a little with regular use. These are ideal for hanging or securing tarps and cloths but will also help distribute pressure when gluing things together, especially frames or for general fabrication work. There really are hundreds of uses for these and having the nylon jaw pads is great if you need to minimize the risk of damaging your clamping surface. They are fairly durable outside and resistant to rain and UV. About the only thing to corrode would be the metal bolt and spring but as they are both anodized, this would take some time. Although these plastic spring clamps do have their breaking point, I've yet to have one crack or break but I will update should this change. There are other beefier versions of these clamps out there but for the current price of $13.99 for 10 clamps, these are a great deal and can still provide for most of your clamping needs.10/22 UPDATESo, after some further use and time in the sun, some of these clamps have failed. Mostly from the clip on pads falling out too easily but also the plastic cracked on one them. I assume that the quality of the plastic is not consistent or perhaps is less resistant to the effects of UV. I've had very similar clamps that have lasted way longer with outdoor use so I've adjusted my star rating to 3.As far as spring clamps go, I would say these are about as low quality as they get. But that's reflected in the $13 price so it's not so much a criticism as an observation. These work fine for light use – I certainly make use of them. I just know from past experience that this style of clamp isn't very tough. First things to fail are the swivel pads: they'll start popping off immediately (I've already had that happen with these) and will either be lost, or wear/break to the point of complete uselessness. If that doesn't get you, the nylon is susceptible to turning brittle with age and breaking under load.Despite all that, these are still quite handy. For inexpensive lightweight clamping these work fine. Just don't expect them to last for years and years. It’s been just too hot to do any work in my garage workshop. I can only give my first impressions of these clamps. I think they’re going to be a great help when I can get back to work on a cabinet I’m building. Strength is good. Grip seems excellent. The price is far less than I would have expected for clamps as nice as these. These clips are very sturdy. They clamp down very tightly.Note that the product page does not mention the maximum thickness you can clamp with these spring clamps. It prominently states 4.5”, which is the total length of the clamp from mouth to handle. Not sure why is that dimension more important than the maximum opening. They are very strong clamps, thanks to a strong spring. I love the lips, which rotate and can be placed correctly on the material to be clamped. If by accident you try to clamp a thicker item, they might fall, but it is easy to push them back in. No loss of functionality.Having ten of them really helps with many projects, and as long as you use them within the maximum opening of 1.5”, these clamps will hold forever. Strongly. These are really strong little clamps! Great for small projects. I was kind of amazed by the grip strength honestly. Going to shop for some larger ones in the same brand. Very happy with these!
